A Gypsy Glam Life with Chronic Illnesses

Glam is of course short for Glamour. Gypsy Glam is a quality of attracting, alluring, or fascinating things. It lends itself to excitement, adventure, or curious activities. Glam defines itself as magic or enchantment while holding some prestige and charisma. Gypsy defines itself as nomadic and free spirited, always constantly changing. Gypsy Glam can mean a lot or a little to different people, it can be defined by experiences or life in general. Each person has their own idea and thoughts about what gypsy glam actually is and how it relates to their existence. To me Gypsy Glam is how I live my life, it is part of what defines me and it is how I describe my personal sensibilities.

Gypsy Glam doesn’t have to mean styled to the nine’s or glitz at every turn; it is a personal affect that one can subscribe to. I love all things that are glitzy, sparkly, and shimmery but I don’t wake up everyday and use those things to create my existence. My mere existence is full of fascinating, curious, and charming things. Being a Gypsy doesn’t mean that you are traveling all the time, anywhere in the world, sometimes you can just stay home. I am definitely a stay at home gypsy. In all aspects of my life I can find the Gypsy Glam. It truly is a state of mind, one that you can have even on those days that you aren’t feeling super glitzy or enchanting. It is how you view the world around you and how you take that perspective and enhance your life. Sure it’s fun to get dolled up put on the makeup, the jewels, and the clothes but since Gypsy Glam is a state of mind you don’t need those things every day although they are super fun.

When dealing with Gypsy Glam, it absolutely needs to be a state of mind when you are living with Chronic Illnesses (CI). CI are really those diseases that are mentioned as a broad term in which they (the diseases) last one year or more and have a requirement of needing constant medical interventions. Chronic diseases are the leading cause of death and disability in the U.S. and the majority of them cannot be cured. CI is an extensive category that is made up of a person’s own experience living with chronic diseases. Every person that deals with CI have vastly different experiences and no two people and their symptoms are ever alike. There are basic guidelines to help a person get diagnosed but aside from that no one is alike even though the diseases have general symptoms.

Living a life of Gypsy Glam while dealing with Chronic Illnesses can be a tough challenge for anyone. If you view Gypsy Glam as a state of mind then it becomes easier to understand how these two seemly different things can co-exist. There has to be a shift in mindset and outlook. There is always a silver lining to the rainstorm, that is Gypsy Glam. Many times there is medicine that can treat the diseases, that is Gypsy Glam. There are days you can’t even function but you will yourself to either take in the rest you need or get up and complete one small task, that is Gypsy Glam.
