Enneagram 4, Gifts, and ENFP
So, I’ve been wondering if there was a link between the Myers Briggs personality, the Enneagram personality, and the love language. I’ve started doing some research because you know I love research and I’ve found conflicting information, which is not a surprise. Each of these personality type tests are often seen as subjective and a lot of people don’t hold much value in them, then there are people who fully believe in one or all of them and base all decisions on their type. To me each one of these types does tell me a lot about myself and I do believe each one has accurately “figured” me out` and led me to learning more about who I am. I have taken each of the tests at different points in my life to see if I have changed or if the tests are just that subjective that they will change over time. No matter what has happened to me or what point I was in life, they all turned out the same. I know for a fact I did give different answers to several of the questions but the results stayed the same, which I thought it was interesting!
As I was looking into the information, I realized that I didn’t fit in the “normal” conclusions that had been drawn among the three. I am sure most everyone will say the same thing, that they don’t fit the ‘normal” but I have thought that more people than not must fall into the “normal” side of it because that’s what the research has shown. Now whether you believe in being an Empath or not (I know it’s a controversial topic) I do think that has played into my being outside the normal of the where the three interconnect. There are several Venn Diagrams floating around that show how the three should interact but I don’t fall into part of the diagrams. I am honestly not surprised because I have never been in the “normal” category of anything.
I am an ENFP (Extraverted, Intuitive, Feeling, and Perceiving) which is considered one of the rarer Myer Brigg’s types. It makes up about 7% of the general population. I am an Enneagram type 4 which is not considered that rare) disagree because I honestly don’t know a lot of other 4’s and I never hear much about 4’s when Enneagram is being discussed). My love language is Gifts, which is considered the least common of all the love languages. So, we mix all those together and here I am! The most common of these three that represent a “normal “mix are: INFP or INFJ, physical touch, and 4. As you can see, I don’t fit into that at all. I am not into physical touch at all, if I don’t have to touch others I won’t. I’ve never been a big hugger unless I can feel someone needs that, to help someone calm down, or when I was teaching, I’d use hugs for the pressure. See there is no way that I am the “normal” of what these three intersecting are supposed to be.
I have a feeling that if you were to research your subsets then some of you will fit into the normal diagrams of intersection and then some of you will on the outskirts like me. It is always interesting to me to find out where people fit into these three “tests” and how they affect their lives. I would love to know where you fit into these and if you find them accurate and if you fit into the Venn diagram of what your three are listed as. This is a subject that is subjective to most but it is truly fascinating none the less.
